The Polarization of Bhagat Singh

The legend of a freedom fighter. The Polarization of Bhagat Singh Making him what He wasn’t Upmanyu Bhardwaj                              Introduction Bhagat Singh, a great patriot and revolutionary, who played a pivotal role in our Independence journey. He was an influential man born into a Jat Punjabi Sikh Family, who themselves were involved in revolutionary activism. He gave his life for the country when he was hanged in the Lahore jail on 23rd March 1931. Popular culture He has been in popular culture. Year after year, he comes on pamphlets, posters with young political leaders,  Saheedi fair’s (Mela), so much so, that he also has been a part of the theatre, movies, and songs. This week marks his 109th Birth anniversary. Why am I writing? But, why I am writing about Bhagat Singh? I must have a reason in mind. And, luckily I have. A few days ago, most unexpectedly, I woke up early and decided to take a walk. I was roaming in the

Book Review: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Part I and Part II

Sometimes, When you get tired of the usual life , don't worry, Life has always a surprise stored for you. Mine came today and it was worth it. Life had been pretty rough lately. I gave several Exams but couldn't clear many of them. As any student would be after the defeat, I was a little low. Days were passing by without any interest. But, then came the most awaited book on Harry potter. Few of my friends and family members posted their comment on social media about the grand success of the book. I was aloof, thinking this book would take some time to come on the internet. The internet, at times, behaves like life. It gets too unpredictable, but I guess that's the beauty of it. So, I was talking to my sister and She had a bad Monday test ( which my DPS buddies can relate too). Then, to cheer her up, I said, " Don't worry for Rakhi I will gift you the newest book on Harry potter". She was abrupt with her reply, " Oh! no need,

The Summer

When we are together and we look at the sky, It's blue and bright in the daylight, It's my hand in yours, and yours in mine  But, somewhere deep inside We know, this summer won't last forever. Like in autumn, When the leaves turn brown and dry, A sweeping wind brings them to the ground, Just, like those leaves falling on the ground, We know, this summer won't last forever. When you look at me, with a glance, My eyes meet yours', and promises are made, We hold our hands on others' chest, And, move apart with shallow pace We know, this summer won't last forever. Like in Winter, When the trees covered in snow, Lakes are frozen and cold winds blow, Just, like those melting ice calling spring's time, We know, this summer won't last forever. When we walk in the park, over the lake at night, The moon shining upon us, its bright light, Then the clouds move with a gushing wind, I look at you, you look at me, But somehow, We know, this summer won't last f

DON'T QUIT

I am sure many would have already read this poem, but anyway, it is always good to share something as inspiring as this poem! When things go wrong as they sometimes will, When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit – Rest if you must, but don’t quit. Life is strange with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a fellow turns about When he might have won had he stuck it out. Don’t give up though the pace seems slow – You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a fair and faltering man, Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victor’s cup, And he learned too late when night came down, How close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out – The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it

INDUSTRIAL PERFORMANCE: AFTERMATH THE ECONOMIC REFORMS

Introduction The Industrial sector has always been the backbone of India. In 1990–1, Industry contributed 26 percent of India’s GDP, employing 15 per cent of the workforce and using 39 percent of the economy’s capital stock. In the 1980s, industry was the economy’s ‘leading’ sector, growing annually at over 6 per cent, while the domestic output grew annually at around 5.5 per cent and exports, of which two-third were from manufacturing, at 8.5 per cent. The decade witnessed modernisation of the production structure with a step up in infrastructure, delicensing of investment and output controls, and a shift in trade policy from quotas to tariff. However, in 1991, the economy faced a liquidity crisis on account of the Gulf war, (b) collapse of the Soviet Union, and (c) the domestic political uncertainty, paralysing policymaking.  Encouraged by the industrial and export boom of the 1980s, the orthodox economic reforms initiated in 1991 sought to (i) make a bonfire of the rema

Pandora's box: Where my toys lived!

There are many stories of life which you hold close to your heart. Some are still alive in memories and some appear like a flashback, some come in black and white, but, the earliest ones are just random pictures. These kind of memories are pretty rare, mostly ranging from a picture of toys, random walls, colors, voices and best of all silhouettes of places. When these memories mix with dreams, it creates a cocktail of memories, rich, vibrant, joyous and makes our life worthwhile. Well, I am not gonna write about memory in this post, for I have something special for this occasion. Let's roll the dial of our clock back in the era of 98-99. Life was simple back then. I was three, my brother 4. Our sister wasn't born yet. We used to live in a big rented place in Lohardaga (A small mining town near Ranchi). It was a big house. So, once my parents went to Delhi around the same time. I was as usual given to my grandma for care-taking. Although, my brother accompanied th

Ode to the Moon

Nature has lot many ways to speak to you. It talks through the winds, the trees, its shadeas, birds but sometime it reaches you in the most unimaginable forms like a crab reaching for your foot or colorful shells lying on the beach waiting to be picked up. But, nothing is more beautiful than a full moon, partially hidden by clouds, casting its light on the waves of sea. It almost seemed to me as the dacing waves were callimg them to me to reach out for them. Well, I have tried hard to put the beautful image which resides within me into words. So, enjoy. Oh! Moon why are you so beautiful, but far? So far, that I can never reach you, Thus, this time I made a boat, And, I will row until I reach you. You are cold and bright in the night, Surrounded by millions of stars, For that I envy you, So let me come and be with you, But, don't you cast your light on sea, When I am all set to sail, For, I will get lost in the beauty of your light, Falling on the surface of sea, L
